Electronica, the International Trade Fair for Electronic Components, Systems and Applications, is a truly international gathering for the electronics industry since 52 years. Last time, in 2014, 2,725 exhibitors presented their products and services that will define our future on 133,000 square meters, and the international event was visited by 73,000 experts from 87 countries. Such a high concentration of innovations at this level is only available at electronica. In an independent survey, 97 percent of the visitors who attended electronica 2014 gave the event a rating of good to excellent.
“Connected Worlds – Safe and Secure“ is the motto of an exhibition sector at electronica, that revolves around the latest operating systems and networking technology in the electronics applications sector. And it is also the topic of the traditional “CEO Roundtable“, a moderated panel discussion in the morning of the first exhibition day. Participants are, among others, Carlo Bozotti, President and CEO of STMicroelectronics, Rick Clemmer, President and CEO of NXP, Dr. Reinhard Ploss, chairman of Infineon Technologies, and Frank Fitzek, Professor at the Technical University of Dresden and head of the Deutsche Telekom Chair for Communication Networks. When the fair opens its gates in Munich, more than 2,800 international exhibitors will present their latest embedded solutions and products that pertain to key themes such as the Internet of Things (IoT) or industrial electronics and automation. Experts will discuss the industry’s latest developments at the Embedded Platforms Conference and the Embedded Forum.
Embedded is one of electronica’s most important focal points. The last time that the fair was held, 35 percent of its visitors came from the sector of hardware and software development. Besides the Embedded exhibition sector in Hall A6, the Embedded Platforms Village is another visitor highlight where companies can demonstrate their know-how. Visitors can also expand their technical knowledge within the scope of the conference and forum programs.
Electronica 2016 will be increasing in size from 12 to 13 halls due to enormous exhibitor demand and new features; now for the first time also including Hall C4. Thus the exhibition space grows from 133,000 to 143,000 m2, and the number of exhibitors will exceed 2,800. Additionally, the North Entrance will be open for easier access from the adjacent parking areas, especially for visitors arriving by car or by taxi. Among other things, the new features include:
Electronica Fast Forward Start-up Platform and the electronica Fast Forward Start-up Award.
Embedded Platforms Village (joint exhibition stand).
IT2Industry and its Open Conference will have their own exhibition sector.
Future-oriented market
Market volume in the electronics industry is more than Euro 3.5 trillion, making it one of the most important branches of industry in the world. Its significance continues to increase. Whether it comes to PCBs, semiconductors, sensors, plug connectors or displays: electronics are a permanent part of our everyday lives. The leading international trade fair electronica 2016 is the very first place to see which components, systems or applications make new developments such as smart homes and connected cars possible in the first place. Here on “Planet e“, visitors of electronica 2016 will see the entire world of electronics.
The around 73,000 visitors of electronica 2016 will come from nearly every consumer segment and user industry imaginable and include a large number of decision-makers with budgets to invest from Germany and abroad. To be precise: visitors from all branches of industry, i.e. from industrial electronics, telecommunications, energy and electromobility to the banking and insurance industry, and from all areas of responsibility, i.e. from hardware developers and software developers to the logistics sector and human resources.
Just as important as products and services is knowledge! electronica's extensive program of supporting events includes five theme-oriented forums. They give participants an opportunity to exchange ideas and information about the latest developments with experts. There are also four conferences with prominent speakers that give visitors a chance to get in-depth knowledge in the sectors of Automotive, Embedded, Wireless and Industry 4.0. The supporting program at the last electronica enthralled some 7,300 participants.
Electronica Automotive Conference
The electronica Automotive Conference, November 7th, 2016, is a platform where the automotive industry's experts and decision-makers from Germany and abroad can gather information and exchange ideas about significant technology trends and strategies in the international automotive industry.
Conference participants exchange information about specific topics that play an important role in the transformation of the entire industry such as electromobility, power electronics, power supplies, safety and communication. The electronica Automotive Conference 2016 will focus on future-oriented topics such as: Security, Autonomous driving and Interior electronics.
Embedded Platforms Conference
Hardware and software developers, product managers and development managers agree: The Embedded Platforms Conference is a communications platform that revolves around components, tools and software. It takes place at the Press Center East during the fair, i.e. on November 9th and 10th. Participants at this year’s conference will exchange information on four key topics: The first day of the conference focuses on “IoT and Security“ and “Microcontrollers and Peripherals“. On the second day of the conference, participants will discuss the “Power and Sensors“ and “Embedded Communication“ sectors.
The conference analyzes both classic embedded modules such as microcontrollers, RTOSs and communication stacks as well as signal converters, sensors, application-specific modules, etc. Embedded platforms are the combination of electronic components, software and tools that constitute the foundation of sophisticated and efficient embedded solutions. They make it possible for applications to satisfy all of the functional, non-functional, economic and ecological requirements that are currently required by users, manufacturers, standardization bodies and legislators in the following areas: Operational safety, access security, ergonomics, usability, energy consumption, environmental compatibility, sustainability, price-performance ratio, etc.
New developments for embedded systems
From chips and components to tools and software to circuit boards and modules for various applications: The electronica Embedded Forum will present a diverse range of technologies, trends and product innovations that pertain to the latest issues and challenges. The focus of this year’s presentations will include IoT, industrial electronics and automation. The event primarily addresses designers, technical specialists and technical managers.
